Coast Range Cabins

A Squamish workshop turning local timber into off-grid homes — and a long waitlist of people who want one.

By the Collective · 11 min read · Studio visit + video

You smell the shop before you see it — cedar and fir and a little woodsmoke from the stove in the corner. Coast Range Cabins has been here since 2014, tucked behind an industrial row in Squamish, quietly building some of the best small homes on the coast.

Built for the coast, by the coast

Everything is engineered for wet winters and cold snaps: sealed envelopes, generous insulation, and solar wiring from day one. The team is small — six people — and the waitlist is long, but nobody here seems in a hurry to change that.
